Betty Erma Carr

Betty Erma Carr passed away peacefully on September 25, 2021, at the home of her son, Verley Schley Carr, Jr. and her daughter-in-law, Ava Loretta Carr, in Colorado Springs, CO; due to age and complications from dementia.

Visitation will be held at Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 5 PM until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Fellowship Baptist Church on Hwy 846 in Columbia with Bro. Ed Smith assisted by Bro. Chris Bennett. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery.

Betty Erma Stanfield Carr was born on January 21, 1934, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the union of her parents, Amos Daniel Stanfield and Bernice Adley Stanfield. She was the first of five children. Betty graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1951. She later married Verley Schley Carr, Sr. in Monroe. They moved to Caldwell Parish in 1968 and raised their son there. She worked at Ouachita National Bank, was a partner in the Ward 5 Jamboree with her husband, and was a rural mail carrier in Caldwell Parish. Along with her husband and son, she accepted Jesus Christ in 1973 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Arlie Bratton. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her brothers: James Stanfield and Perry Stanfield, and sisters: Carolyn Stanfield and Janey Underwood.

She will be forever loved and remembered by her son, Schley and his wife, Ava, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Keller, Derek Crockett, Randy Barnette, Roy Dale Carr, Charles McGuire, and Benny Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Fellowship Cemetery Fund.
