Benny Bratton

Funeral services for Benny Dale Bratton, age 71, of Olla and formerly of Columbia will be held at 2pm Sunday, January 31, 2010 from the Pine Hill Baptist Church at Urania with Rev. David McGuffee officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 4pm to 9pm at Riser Funeral Home located at 7131 U S Hwy 165 Columbia, LA. Visitation for Sunday will be at the church beginning at 1pm until time of service. Benny Dale Bratton was born on May 30, 1938 at Kelly, LA to the union of David Bratton and Leona Johnson Bratton. He was one of eighteen siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers: A.L., Chester, Jack, and Millard. Also, by his sisters: Cleta Phillips, Elsie Wilson, and Ardie Goldman. Bennie was a retired truck driver and a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church in Urania. Bennie delivered fruits and vegetables to friends and neighbors and was always trying to put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was truly a Good Samaritan and will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Survivors include: his wife, Jettie Bratton of Olla, his sons: Benny Bratton and wife, Misty, of Enterprise, LA, Tony Wayne Bratton of Lafayette, IN, and James Bratton and wife, Paula, of Olla, LA, his daughter: DeWanna Pitman and husband, Stacey, of Olla, step-daughters: Shirley Hickey and husband, Glenn, of Beach Island, SC, and Jan Meredith and husband, Bryan, of Grayson, step-son: Frank Patton and wife, Kim, of Winnfield, brothers: Buster Bratton of Minden, LA, Darryl Bratton of West Monroe, and Virgil Bratton of Pineville, LA, sisters: Modean Buckalew of Columbia, Ruby Clark of Corning, CA, Ethel James of Kelly, Catherine Warford of Severville, TN, Clara Rutledge of Columbia, Virginia Cruse of Grayson, and Ruth Gintz of Pineville, LA, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be: Aubrey Bratton, Mitch Bratton, Otha Ray Bratton, Sidney Eubanks, LaVelle Dollar, and Brian Roberts.
