Much appreciation to Pilots for Patients, Dr. Petros Carvounis, The Gardens at Georgia Tucker Assisted Living in Monroe, Louisiana, Washington Regional Hospital, Washington Regional Hospice, Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, AR and Katherine's Place in Fayetteville.
BJo was a Daddy's girl, a Navy brat with Louisiana roots, and an out of the box thinker who drove her mother nuts. She was a proud mom of two boys and was a grandmother to four. She took great delight in her role as an unconventional grandmother. She was a long-time educator with a special gift for teaching kindergarteners. She was a talented artist and photographer. She was a self-described Bohemian who colored outside the lines and relished the beauty of it. Many may remember visiting her house on Halloween where they received candies and unexpected treats such as frozen peas, Lean Cuisine meals, butter, sometimes even a steak. She was a lengthy storyteller and if you had heard it before you were absolutely going to hear it again. She loved animals, especially dogs, cats and chickens. She loved music and attending 80's rock concerts with her son, Ladd. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She was an authentically unique soul who will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pilots for Patients at 3127 Mercedes Dr. Monroe, LA 71201 or on their website at https://www.pilotsforpatients.org/default.asp or honor BJo’s memory by adopting a cat or dog in need of a home, taking a bag of food to a shelter, or putting out a bowl of food or water the next time you see a stray.
