Alton Norman Gilliam

Funeral Services for Alton Gilliam will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, January 27, 2025, at Riser Funeral Home in Olla, Louisiana with Bro. Shad Tibbs officiating and Rickey Nugent assisting. Interment will follow at Chickasaw Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Riser Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Alton Norman Gilliam was born August 27, 1930 in Manifest, Louisiana to the union of his parents, William Gilliam and Ruth Ann Norman Gilliam and passed from this life January 24, 2025 at his residence in Olla. Alton was a simple man. He was a devoted husband and father. Alton loved reading his bible and attending church if he was able. Over the years, he fished, raised vegetable gardens, tended to his cattle, and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Alton took pride in keeping up the Chickasaw Cemetery, always making sure it looked nice. He loved his little family and will be missed so much.

Alton was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wilbur Gilliam. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of seventy-five years, LaRue Nugent Gilliam; son, Wayne Gilliam (Nakisha); and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will include, Rickey Nugent, Wayne Clark, Dale McCartney, Al Cassels, Michael Gilliam, and Terry Knapp. Honorary Pallbearer is Randy Nugent.
