Ollie Virginia Fussell Roberts

Virginia Fussell Roberts , age 84, passed from this life to her eternal resting peace on November 11, 2020. Virginia was born to the union of her parents , James Henry Fussell and Hattie Viola Bumgardner Fussell on April 3, 1936 at Clarks, LA. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. It all started with a beautiful girl and a handsome persistent boy on a bicycle. He was so very much in love with her and when he finally caught her attention, he treated her like a princess the rest of his days. They courted, wed, and quadrupled their love with a precious girl, another beauitful girl, a handsome boy and lastly another handsome boy. That beautiful girl became a woman and a mother of four. As any southern belle would do she put her daughters in etiquette classes and her boys in Boy Scouts and became a troupe leader. All her grandbabies went to Sunday School where she taught them. At prayer meetings on Wednesdays she gave to the community making holiday baskets for her grandchildren to hand out. There was always a special child at the Baptist Childrens Home that was blessed with a wonderful Christmas. She worked the Louisiana Art and Folk Festival until itas 50th. Anniversary. The Museum was downtown on Pearl Street until they moved it to the Martin Homeplace. She was one of the last teaching the making of quilts, rug making, biscuit and sausage making on the wood stove and dying skills. She was also one of the last women to teach the love of God and how to love God, read the Bible, sew clothes, make jelly, garden, cook, make soaps and lotion and dry flowers. Her work on earth is done, her work for God has earned her a special place in Heaven and she is rejoicing with the boy on the bicycle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Merlon Jay Roberts and her sister, Ruth Ann Kelly. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Deborah Roberts, Cindy Caitlin, Brian and Teresa Roberts and Randy Roberts; her grandchildren: Sharron Evans (John), Jeremy White (Angela), Jamie Lee (Justin), Coty Roberts (Amber, Erica Glasgow (Roy), Nathan Simpson, Kyle Roberts, Travis Simpson, Casey Wiley (Chris) and Erin Roberts (Marley); her great-grandchildren:Lyndsey, Brianna, Parker, Tyler, Rae-Rae, Brennen, Harrah, Leevi, McKenna, Macy, Hailey, Reagan, Rease, Dylan, Brooklyn, Ashlyn, Allie, Avery, Cason and Harlyn.
