Obituary of Wilson Ray (Buster) Curry

Wilson Ray (BUSTER) Curry, born June 2, 1941, passed peacefully on January, 7 2018 into the presence of his Lord with family members at his bedside.  Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 13, at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle of Grayson. Officiating will be Brother Sherman Jones assisted by Ted Wilson.

Buster and his family have resided in Columbia since July 1979.  For ten years Buster worked as a barber at Mr. Whitten’s barber shop (Whit’s).  He opened Buster’s Barber Shop in 1994.  Buster was a capable barber.  He made himself available to the working man by also being open on Mondays.  Buster loved motorcycles.  He was in his element on his Honda V-MAX with the wind in his face and the sun on his shoulder.  More times than a few the police officer pulled him over and chided him for his propensity to speed down the highway.  Buster confessed, “Man, I just can’t help it.”  The officer sighed, “Would you just wait until you get out of my parish?”  Buster chuckled and said, “I’ll do my best.”  Buster’s dry humor and quips sprinkled many lives with laughter.  He loved deeply, long-term and without judgment.  He and his loving wife, Jane, shared almost fifty five and a half years of marriage.  Their union produced a son, Darren, also of Columbia.  Buster was a faithful member of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle of Grayson.  Buster was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wilson Curry, his nephew, Damon Boudreaux, his brothers-in-law Marshall Boudreaux, Reggie Harper, and Nathan Cotten, his sister-in-law Grace Plumley and Vergie Westbrooks, and his mother-in-law Eva Cotten. He is survived by his mother Nita Curry of Jena, wife, Jane, son, Darren, sister, Jody and her husband Ted Wilson of Plainview, Texas and a wealth of friends and family.
