Funeral services for Billy Ray Woodruff, 74, of Urania will be held 2pm Wednesday February 20, 2013 from the Olla chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. E.R. Johnson and Rev. Eddie Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the Urania Cemetery, at Urania. Visitation will be on Tuesday Feb. 19, 2013 at the Riser Funeral Home in Olla, from 5 pm until 9 pm. Billy Ray Woodruff was born on October 3, 1938 to the union of James Riley Woodruff and Maudie Foster Woodruff. He passed from this life on February 16, 2013 at the Hardtner Medical Center in Urania, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings: James Woodruff, Jessie Lee Woodruff, Junior Woodruff, Charles W. Woodruff, Yvonne Conn, and Evelyn Woodruff .Billy Ray touched the lives of many people in his span of seventy four years. His family and friends were the light of his life. He served proudly in the United States Navy. Survivors include : His wife, Geralie G. Woodruff of Urania, son: Kenneth Woodruff of Urania, two daughters: Rebecca Banes and her husband Jerry of Columbia, and Barbette Woodruff and her husband Hughy Williams of Olla; two step-daughters: Laurel Comeaux and husband Danny of Olla, and Kristal McGuire and husband Max of Washington, LA; and his step-son: Todd Knight and wife Stephanie. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Simons, Daniel Comeaux, Keith Ganey, Jerry Lynn Glidewell, Hughy Paul Williams, and Todd Knight.
