Funeral services for Billy G. Knighten age 74 of Grayson will be held 10am Saturday June 2, 2012 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Harrell Tucker officiating. Scott Meredith will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Furlow/ Knighten Cemetery west of Columbia. Visitation will be Friday evening from 3 to 8pm at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165. Billy Gene Knighten was born on October 16, 1937 at Columbia, LA to the union of his parents Judson Knighten and Jessie Williamson Knighten. He passed from this life on May 30, 2012 at the St. Francis Medical Center, Downtown Campus, in Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by three children, Melody Ann Knighten, Bessica Gene Knighten, and Jessica Dean Knighten. He was a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge, and the Alexandria Masonic Lodge. Left to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of sixteen years, Velvet B. Knighten of Grayson; his daughter, Alexa Skylynn Knighten of Grayson; four sons, Judd Knighten, (Rachele) ofGrayson; Lenny Knighten, (Donna) of Grayson; Lanny Knighten, (Michele) of Grayson; and Darrell Knighten, (Connie) of Eros; two sisters, Betty Earl Head, (Billy) of Chatham; and Goldie Knighten of Hot Springs ,Arkansas; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Hasley, Don Hasley, Clint Townsend, Brian Girod, Dee Hudson, Jason Cowart, Jamie Knighten, and Joseph Bradley. Honorary pallbearers include Paul Roark, Paul Briscoe, Richard Whittington, and Andy Roberts.
